Spying on partners and kids to rise

Despite over 90% of the UK’s computer users having security software installed, just under half the population has suffered from hacking, viruses and spyware. This has not stopped over 14% of people saying they would quite happily consider using software to spy on their kids and partners, despite never having done it before.

Viruses account for the majority of computer problems (26.7%) today but spyware is on the increase with over 15% claiming they have suffered in the last 12 months.

Interestingly ID theft is low at about 6% proving that it remains a rare crime despite the fearmongering in the media.

Spying on loved ones though seems to be fair game for some although it’s not to everyone’s taste. A lot of people (over 80%) claim they will never spy on anyone and never will.
